Jake Holder is a 20 year old University of Dayton
Engineering Student, who has struggled with his academic direction, but never questioned how he wants to use a special gift
that God has given him. As a teenager at age 17, family and
church friends discovered that God had blessed Jake with an amazing voice. They knew it was a gift because
none of his closest friends, or even his parents, had ever heard him sing. He lived with gospel music
in his ear, but never had his talent nurtured, taken vocal lessons, or even whispered a tune.
Jake began his
journey with Christ when he accepted Him as his Lord and Savior at the age of four. He was raised in church
and a Christian home. At the age of 17, Jake sang for the first time in public as a teenager in 2007.
He sang “Ten Thousand years” in a duet at two local talent contests in Dayton, OH, and won first place.
Jake started singing bass in a quartet called Victory Side Quartet at his home church in Dayton, Ohio. God blessed the
Quartet and doors were consistently opened for them to sing in churches, outdoor sings, local theatres and one of Ohio’s
largest gospel music singings in Cambridge Ohio.
In 2008 after high school graduation, VSQ decided to pursue different aspirations,
but Jake still desired to pursue his dream. Jake started a new Quartet called Messenger Sound which sang
together for a short period of time. This group disbanded, but Jake’s love and passion for singing
gospel music continued, and he began his journey as a soloist.
Jake participated in a Top Flight 2009 regional talent
contest where he won first place in the two separate categories he entered as male vocalist, which awarded him a scholarship
and a recording studio opportunity. God’s
hand has been evident on Jake’s life and his music ministry. Doors have swung wide open with opportunities
to sing and he has gained favor from many people who have blessed, encouraged and supported him. Within
six months of going Solo, Jake began to have opportunities to sing on stage with some award winning and nationally well known
professional gospel artists including, Kingsmen Quartet, Mark Bishop, Dixie Melody Boys, Journeymen, McKameys, The Nelons,
Squire Parsons, Gold City, Greater Vision, Legacy Five, Talley Trio and others. Jake has been inspired by these various
individuals and groups and desires to minister in the same manner. Jake sang in a showcase at the National Quartet Convention 2008. He has sang for daytime
showcases and evening main stage concerts at the Southern Gospel Music Convention in Branson, Missouri in 2009 and
2010. He also attended The Steve Hurst School of Music in 2009.
Jake has completed four CD projects, one with VSQ and three Solo CD projects,
some with original songs. Jake recorded his latest CD Project in his studio and performed all the background vocals
on most of his songs. His music has been played on various radio stations throughout the US and Canada.
His CD’s are available at local Christian Bookstores, the University of Dayton Bookstore and through his Website.
Jake always wants to be in accordance with God's
will for his life. The talent that God has given him to sing gospel music has helped him stay close to God. He recognizes
that God has blessed him with a gift, and he believes God will continue to open doors for him to sing and use his gift to
praise HIM. Jake has been blessed with tremendous supoort from family, pastors, promoters, friends and southern
gospel music fans. His Soothing voice is unique and loved by many who hear him sing
Jake
is currently a full time student and a part time professional gospel music artist whose desires to use his gifts and talents
to exemplify God's message of love and salvation through his gift of music. He
desires to sing Gospel Music professionally full time, in God’s timing and
according to His plan. He someday hopes to sing on the main stage at the National Quartet Convention.
This will be up to God and where He leads him, because Jake is trusting God for what He has for him.You can visit Jacob’s website at www.jakeholdermessengersound.com.
